The award was recently presented to the Perkins team at an award’s ceremony at Grosvenor House in London.
“This award recognises businesses that have gone above and beyond what’s required in terms of their commitment to safety,” said Mark Mitchell, Environmental Health and Safety manager at Perkins.
He continued: “For us safety is paramount and is about a relentless drive for continual improvement. As a team we are all committed to safety and improving the environment for each and every one of us.”
The BSC was founded in 1957 and is one of the largest independent occupational health, safety and environmental organisations in the world. Of the 570 award applications received by the BSC this year, only 125 sites around the world were awarded a distinction.
Applicants for the International Safety Award must demonstrate that they have sound health and safety management systems in place. Each application is then judged and marked by a panel of four independent health and safety professionals.
Alex Botha, Chief Executive of the BSC, added: “This achievement clearly demonstrates a strong commitment by Perkins Engines Company Limited to maintain the health, safety and well being of your employees through good health and safety management.”
