In June 2011, Bombardier Transportation Bautzen and Liebherr-Transportation Systems have signed a contract for the supply of twelve roof-mounted cab air-conditioning systems and 24 roof-mounted saloon heating and ventilation systems to equip the second production batch of Bombardier’s low-floor trams of type MGT-K 2 (= Meterspur-Gelenk-Triebwagen-Kurz, second batch).
The delivery is scheduled for 2012. Since 2003, Bombardier Transportation has ordered 84 saloon heating and ventilation units and 42 cab air-conditioning units from Liebherr to equip 42 trains. These trains have been delivered to the Urban Transport Authority of the City of Halle (Germany), Hallesche Verkehrs-AG (HAVAG).
Bombardier’s Bautzen plant in Germany is responsible for the development and the production of the vehicles as well as for the system integration. With this new order Bombardier clearly expresses its confidence in Liebherr’s expertise in air conditioning systems.
