On September 23, 2011, the Global Stapler Cup "International Championship" was held in Aschaffenburg, Germany. Twelve countries sent their best forklift drivers to compete as a team in the international competition. This year, teams from Sweden, the Czech Republic, Spain, the Netherlands, France, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, the Baltic States, the UK and China will compete against Germany, who was the defending champion. Nearly 15,000 people participate throughout three day competition at Aschaffenburg’s Schlossplatz.

Since 2007, Linde Material Handling organization in many countries around the world has held their own national forklift championships. In China, Linde Cup was held once in 4 years and was therefore dubbed the “Oylmpic Gala of China Logistics Industry” and created Shanghai Great World Record in 2007 for the inaugural event. This year’s team representing China was the champion team from China-wide competition held across 28 cities, covering more than 800 companies and 2500 participants. This winning team, Xiamen International Airport Air Cargo Terminal, had many learning experiences in the Stapler Cup in Aschaffenburg. Chen Jing, who achieved a 3rd position in an individual competition, said that “it was really an eye-opener for me and my team members, and learning how the best drivers could operate the Linde forklifts so efficiently”.
