Hyundai Heavy's Gunsan Shipyard Launches First Two Ships
转载 2009-12-21 10:16 HHI Source:HHIHyundai Heavy Industries’ Gunsan Shipyard successfully built its first two and held a launching ceremony on December 18.
Mr. Oh Byung-wook, president of HHI, Mr. Kim Wan-joo, governor of Jeollabukdo, Mr. Mun Dong-Shin, Mayor of Gunsan city and 100 other guests attended this ceremony.
The ships are 180,000dwt bulk carriers ordered from Nord Capital in Germany. They measure 292m in length, 45m in width, and 24.7m in depth individually.
Work on these ships began in February 2009 and took 10 months to complete. The ships will be delivered to the shipowner in February 2010 after final outfitting work.
Hyundai Heavy broke ground for the Gunsan shipyard in May, 2008. The construction of the Gunsan shipyard was completed in July of 2009.
Gunsan Shipyard has about 20 VLCCs and bulk carriers in its order backlog. It plans to deliver 20 vessels every year recording 3 trillion won in sales.
Gunsan Shipyard covers 1.8 million square meters and has one million dwt class dry dock, and a 1600 ton gantry crane.
