AGV SYSTEM The AGV system is operating, as a line assembly system including several stations were the operators perform different assembly tasks to complete the specific Power Pack ordered by a Volvo customer in Sweden or somewhere else globally. The AGV sequence starts by manually picking up an engine and continue to the next station where additional items are added. When the work on a station is finalized the operators confirms to the AGV by a push button to continue downstream to the next station. The last station in the process is a manual unload transfer of the completed Power Pack to a sub-frame. The AGV is then free to return to the pick up position for a new sequence. Wire guidance was chosen to be vehicle navigation principle due to the nature of the object, sitting on top of the AGV and the work process demanding full access basically 360°. The AGV communication is based on 8-bit photocell point-to-point communication with the PLC system on site. An on-board battery charger provides the energy charging after shift end.
