Jungheinrich has opened a new integrated facility in Bhiwandi, India.

The facility consists of an equipment and spare parts warehouse, workshop and a training centre for its all-electric forklifts and warehouse equipment - a strategic move set to revolutionise India’s logistics operations.

Jungheinrich aims to substantially expand its capacity to meet the country’s growing demand for forklifts and warehouse equipment.

“Our aim is to set the trend for modernisation in Indian logistics sector,” says Manojit Acharya, Jungheinrich India head.

“As part of this growing eco-system, Jungheinrich now plans to position itself as an ‘automation solution provider’ by introducing new machines in the Indian market such as automotive guided vehicles (AGV).”

India’s warehouses are still dominated by diesel forklifts and old-technology warehouse equipment.

Acharya says Jungheinrich will recycle its old equipment as part of its environmental approach.

“We refurbish our equipment from our rather successful rental market and resell them. This is a huge step towards reducing our carbon footprint and it saves a huge number of resources which would otherwise have ended as scrap or waste,” he explains.
