Hans-Georg Frey elected as Chairman of the Supervisory Board

As previously announced, Dr Lars Brzoska has assumed the role of Chairman of the Board of Management of Jungheinrich AG. The 46-year-old business manager has been a member of the Board of Management of the Hamburg-based provider of intralogistics solutions since 2014. Until the summer of 2018, he was Member of the Board of Management Marketing & Sales with great success before assuming the Board of Management responsibility for Engineering. He will continue to hold both offices until Sabine Neuß assumes the role of Member of the Board of Management for Engineering on 1 January 2020.

Hans-Georg Frey, the former Chairman of the Board of Management, has been elected by the Supervisory Board as its Chairman. Frey was the Chairman of the Board of Management of Jungheinrich AG from 2007 until the end of August this year. At the Annual General Meeting this spring, the shareholders elected him to the Supervisory Board with effect from 1 September 2019.

The former Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Jürgen Peddinghaus, resigned his office as announced the previous year. Peddinghaus had been a member of Jungheinrich’s Supervisory Board since 2001 and its Chairman since 2006.

Over a year ago, Jungheinrich AG announced its plans for generational renewal in the company’s leadership, and so started setting the course for an orderly handover of top posts on the Board of Management and Supervisory Board early on.

Attended by German Federal Minister of Finance Olaf Scholz, Jungheinrich AG today inaugurated the second construction phase of its headquarters in Hamburg-Wandsbek. The extension at the Friedrich-Ebert-Damm site will create additional space for around 500 members of staff who until now have been based at various different locations around Hamburg. Once they have moved in, there will be 1,000 people working at the headquarters.

Dr Lars Brzoska: “Continuity and stability are essential to a successful company. This is why the decision was made at Jungheinrich to plan and announce the changes to the Board of Management and Supervisory Board at an early stage. Jungheinrich creates sustainable value for its customers, business partners, employees and shareholders. As a Hamburg-based family company, we are focused on long-term and profitable growth. The systematic change to the top management is proof of this.

My special thanks go to Hans-Georg Frey, who over the last twelve years at Jungheinrich has worked with the whole team to write a very successful chapter. Under his leadership, revenue has doubled since 2010 and more than 8,000 jobs have been created around the world. I am excited to continue our more than five-year professional relationship as he takes on this new role. I would also like to offer my thanks to Jürgen Peddinghaus for his dedication and continuous support. He has been a reliable anchor whose recommendations always went on to enrich the company. On behalf of the Board of Management and all our employees, I wish him all the best for the future.

I am very much looking forward to the important task of working closely with my colleagues on the Board of Management and all our employees around the world to continue Jungheinrich’s success. Electric mobility, digitalisation and automation are the top trends in intralogistics. We will work with our entire team to expand our leading ability to innovate in these fields and to better harness thus far untapped potential in the market. As we look to the future, we want to create industry-leading products and solutions that offer our customers sustainable added value for the challenges of the growing e-commerce market. We will therefore be putting a great emphasis on cutting-edge technologies such as lithium-ion batteries and digital Solutions.
