•“FleetRadar” announced as new product name

Our indoor positioning tool FleetRadar won the IFOY Award in the category “Special of the Year”.

This Tuesday marked the presentation of the IFOY Awards 2017 at the “BMW World” centre in Munich. The Jungheinrich Indoor Positioning system captured an IFOY Award in the “Special of the Year” category. An international jury of experts honoured the innovativeness and customer benefits of the solution, developed in-house by Jungheinrich. The Indoor Positioning system is a digital solution for localising industrial trucks inside the warehouse. By analysing the resulting motion data, Jungheinrich customers can save money, manage their vehicle fleets more efficiently and at the same time increase the level of warehouse safety. The system offers a position-based analysis of stacker movements which can be viewed live or retrospectively using a web-based application. Each stacker is fitted with a smartphone from Jungheinrich which communicates with Bluetooth transmitters - so-called “beacons” - placed throughout the warehouse. The system - which can be installed with a minimum of effort and expense - can thus calculate the truck’s current position at all times. It offers four functions for any warehouse environment: TruckFinder, ZoneGuard, SpeedZoning und RouteOptimizer.

Dr Lars Brzoska, CMO of the Jungheinrich Group, declared at the end of the awards ceremony: “Winning the IFOY Award for our Indoor Positioning system demonstrates how Jungheinrich has developed into a simultaneous forklift manufacturer, logistics system provider and software producer. Digital solutions are playing an increasingly important role in intralogistics. We at Jungheinrich have consistently broadened our range of offerings and enhanced the level of customer benefits. Our Indoor Positioning system represents a user-friendly solution which Jungheinrich customers can use to enhance the transparency, productivity and safety of their warehouse operations for even greater success.”

New product name for Indoor Positioning system: FleetRadar

Jungheinrich worked together with the Fraunhofer IIS Institute to adapt an existing indoor localisation system - one originally designed for the consumer sector - to fit industrial applications. Following its successful introduction, the Indoor Positioning system was fitted with new functionalities and performance and given a new name. In future Jungheinrich will be marketing its digital solution for localising industrial trucks under the name of “Jungheinrich FleetRadar”, which will be available to Jungheinrich intralogistics customers in four different modules. The TruckFinder function shows the current position of a vehicle inside the warehouse live, while ZoneGuard allows the user to define the warehouse zones in which vehicle operation is permitted. As soon as a vehicle leaves the allowed zone, the designated recipient receives a warning via e-mail. SpeedZoning enables the customer to define special areas in which warnings on speed limits, incorrect parking etc. are displayed on the driver’s smartphone. The RouteOptimizer function helps optimise the warehouse by presenting a visualised analysis of the routes travelled.

About the IFOY Award

The International Forklift Truck of the Year (IFOY) Award stands for economic efficiency and innovation. By virtue of its technical expertise, it is considered the leading intralogistics innovations award. The winners are selected every year by an independent jury of leading trade journalists. Their decisions are based on an objective test and a scientific innovations check, with both test series comparing the competing products submitted by finalists. The IFOY Award is sponsored by the Materials Handling and Intralogistics Association within the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) and is presented under the auspices of the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy
