During a successful four days at the International Materials Handling Exhibition (IMHX) in September, Pyroban helped to educate visitors about important updates to explosion protection legislation.

“IMHX gave us an invaluable opportunity to talk to forklift OEMs, dealers and users about changes in our industry,” says Matthew Shirkie, Commercial Manager for Pyroban. “Three key standards affect materials handling equipment used in, or near to, potentially explosive atmospheres, including the new ATEX 2014/34/EU* directive, the updated EN1755:2015** standard, and the international ISO 3691-1:2011**.”

Pyroban converts forklifts for use in hazardous areas and provides a complete service support structure to help companies achieve continued compliance with relevant legislation. At the event the company discussed the importance of Ex-ASA annual safety inspections, which ensure that the integrity and safety of the materials handling equipment is not compromised during its working lifetime.

Pyroban also raised awareness of safety in hazardous areas during the RTITB International Forklift Operator of the Year competition, sponsoring the “Explosive Mixer” test which took place in the heats throughout IMHX.

Matthew concludes “We hope that our presence at the event and the conversations we had will help to promote greater safety in applications where potentially explosive atmospheres exist.”
