Safety Company Pyroban has warned that, in a few cases, non-genuine or Pyroban supply chain parts are being used to maintain Pyroban explosion protected forklifts.

“This can compromise the level of protection provided by the system you have invested in , so you need to make sure you have the correct and genuine replacement parts,” warns Darren Boiling, After Sales Manager for Pyroban Group.  “We are not talking about a breakdown situation for using the wrong part; we are talking about increasing the risk of equipment becoming an ignition source that could result in an explosion.”

For forklift suppliers and OEMs, genuine Pyroban products are available for purchase only through Pyroban.  While products that appear to be similar to
Pyroban products may be available through third party sellers or other channels such as auction sites, these products are not genuine Pyroban products and are not certified or endorsed by Pyroban. These can include both new parts and originally new parts that are misrepresented as having been repaired refurbished by Pyroban to original condition. Any representation of product warranty provided by such sellers is  not provided by Pyroban, and therefore, Pyroban will provide no warranty support for these products.

Users of Pyroban equipment should check that their forklift supplier is sourcing or repairing parts correctly and can contact Pyroban directly if they are unsure.

“When a standard forklift is converted by Pyroban, every component is assessed and, in most cases, modified or replaced with Pyroban systems to ensure it reduces the risk of being the cause of  an explosion. Using the wrong replacement parts compromises that risk reduction, as it only takes one small spark to complete the fire triangle,” says Darren.

To counter the problem of defective explosion protected forklifts being used in hazardous areas, Pyroban is now offering the first Ex-ASA annual inspections included in the price for all conversions completed within 2016 for use in Europe. The Ex-ASA is a thorough inspection of the safety critical components on an explosion protected forklift.

Explosion protected forklifts are widely used in industries where flammable material is being processed or stored such as a chemical or food factory, waste treatment plant or distillery.
