Water-In-A-Box, a company that, as its name suggests, provides a range of mineral waters in eco-friendly carton-type packaging, has instructed Berkshire-based Walker Logistics to manage its B-2-B and B-2-C supply chains.

The contract had previously been outsourced to one of the UK’s largest logistics providers, but Water-In-A-Box’s owners decided that their interests would be better served by a logistics services partner that they considered was capable of delivering a more personal service, while still maintaining the infrastructure and day-to-day capability that their rapidly expanding brand demands.

Palletised loads stock are in the process of being transferred from one of the outgoing 3PL’s stores to Walker’s shared-user site near Reading and has also begun to arrive from Water-In-A-Box’s production facility in Somerset.

Walker will supply the boxed water to leading high street retailers , including Tesco, as well as other independent stockists and, in addition, will fulfill consumer orders placed via Amazon.com.

“Water-In-A-Box is a young and exciting brand that is growing and we are delighted to be able to play a part in helping the company to achieve the market penetration it has targeted,” says William Walker, Walker Logistics head of sales and marketing.

“They reached a similar conclusion to an increasing number of users of logistics services - namely, that when it comes to choosing a 3PL partner, biggest is not always best.

“It’s a cliché, I know, but when it comes to choosing a 3PL, the saying ‘big enough to cope, small enough to care’ is certainly worth applying.”
