Chemtura Manufacturing UK has selected three Cesab M325 forklifts to enhance safety and productivity at its top tier COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) site in Trafford Park, Manchester.
With one of the Cesab M325s the first in the UK to be fitted with the Miretti flameproof system, chemicals manufacturer Chemtura has worked with its local Cesab dealership, Global Materials Handling, to ensure the Cesab equipment is suitable for operation in a potentially hazardous environment, handling chemicals such as peroxide.
The Cesab trucks operate across a large site where they have to navigate roads and a high number of pedestrians, making accident prevention necessary at all times. With 500 tonnes of product moved on a weekly basis, however, the demand for productivity is also constant.
Chemtura chose the Cesab M325s, part of the M300 range, because they are manufactured to the highest standards using Toyota Production System (TPS) in European factories certified to ISO 14001. Featuring Cesab’s Intelligent Mast Design (IMD) as standard, good visibility through the mast helps forklift operators to work more easily and safely as well as achieve quicker workplace operations. Two full front lift (FFL) cylinders provide this strong forward vision through the mast.
Chris Farrell, Day Team Specialist at Chemtura: "This is a very large site, with pedestrians and vehicles interacting on a constant basis. The decision to switch to Cesab was the right one. Not only have our operators reported that the trucks are easy and comfortable to drive, but they recognise the benefit of well designed masts that give them great forward visibility.
"Global has supported us for the last four years and been consistently reliable and responsive. Their engineers are quick to respond and work with the exact attitude and approach that we need on a top tier COMAH site."
