The FLTA has announced that this year’s National Fork Truck Safety Conference will be held at Loughborough University on 23 September 2015.

Building on the remarkable success of the 2014 Conference, this year’s event will, once again, focus on peer-to-peer presentations sharing best practice in a bid to reduce the stubbornly high levels of injuries, damage and death in premises of every size and in every sector.

Although it is widely accepted that the causes of fork lift truck accidents never change, there is a tide of opinion – with the FLTA at its forefront – that for real change to occur, what’s needed is a change in awareness, attitudes and company culture.

Speakers will highlight the need for constant vigilance and the importance of creating an environment where poor practice is simply not acceptable. The aim is to make everyone feel involved in a safety culture and responsible for policing it.

The theme of the Conference is 3600 Safety – reflecting the holistic approach being driven by the FLTA not only through this Conference but also via its online Safer Site Programme.

Announcing the date, FLTA Chief Executive Peter Harvey said: “This is a genuine peer-to-peer event designed to inform, inspire and motivate managers and supervisors in companies of every size and in every sector”

Sessions will include:

• Keynote address by senior representative from HSE (Health & Safety Executive)
• Case studies delivered by managers who have successfully and significantly improved their organisation’s FLT safety track record.
• Technical papers on key issues
• Practical Safety Panel featuring Highly Commended finalists from the FLTA Safe Site Awards
