Crown Equipment Corporation, one of the world’s largest material handling companies, has earned a spot on the 11th annual Food Logistics 100+ list for software and technology providers that help food and beverage customers to facilitate safe product transportation while ensuring regulatory compliance. Companies that earned a spot on the FL100+ list were featured in the November/December 2014 issue of Food Logistics.
Magazine editors cited the Crown InsiteTM Productivity Suite, a collection of forklift fleet and operator management products, for helping customers manage safety, productivity, efficiency and cost of operation. Crown Insite tools enable managers to identify issues, set goals and measure success based on forklift data gathered from throughout the warehouse.
Northgate Markets, a family-owned supermarket chain with 40 stores throughout southern California, has been using Crown’s InfoLink® System, part of the Crown Insite Productivity Suite, to track and evaluate key performance factors throughout its operations since 2012.
“Historically, we struggled with operator impacts and related maintenance issues,” said Keith McCarron, distribution manger, Northgate Markets. “We installed Crown’s InfoLink on more than 100 pieces of equipment throughout our warehouse, which helps us to make sure each one undergoes a pre-shift checklist and is safe to use. We also use InfoLink to set speed and usage parameters for our operators, depending on skill level and training. Crown’s technology helps us to keep our operators safer and more productive, and we’ve become a more efficient, productive operation because of our collaboration with Crown.”
Jim Gaskell, director of global Crown Insite products, added, “We’re grateful to be included on Food Logistics’ list again this year, as it reflects our commitment to helping our customers gather, decipher and apply data to their business decisions. One of the biggest challenges our customers face is developing a thorough, actionable understanding of how their forklifts are used on a daily basis – and what that means for maintenance, safety and productivity. Crown Insite products help streamline information gathering and deciphering so it’s easier to make strategic decisions based on real-time data.”
AC Business Media Inc., which publishes Food Logistics, is a business-to-business media company that provides “targeted content for some of the world’s most recognized B2B brands.”
