The first hurdle in the race for the coveted  IFOY Awards, the honour of the “International Forklift Truck of the Year”, has been cleared. STILL was convincing in all the entries through its innovative strength, cost-effectiveness and sustainability, therefore the jury has nominated it in all four competition categories. This means that for a week in February the STILL RX 20 and RX 60-80 counterbalanced trucks and the FM-X reach truck will take the extensive IFOY Test and IFOY Innovation Check on the site of the official logistics partner Hellmann Worldwide Logistics in Osnabrück. The customer solution that was entered – the raw materials warehouse implemented for Kuraray Trosifol in Troisdorf near Cologne – will be assessed based on its novelty value and innovation together with its benefit to the customer and marketability. The winners will be chosen by an international jury of highly respected journalists in leading logistics media from 13 countries and will be honoured at a gala event during the CeMAT@transport logistic trade fair in Munich on 5th May.

The RX 20, with a load capacity of 1.4 t to 2.0 t, is in the final in the category “Counterbalanced Trucks up to 3.5 t”. This electric truck, which was revised and improved in 2014, scores points mainly through outstanding energy efficiency combined with high goods handling performance and proven ergonomics. With top speeds up to 20 km/h, optimised ramp climbing ability and hydraulic speeds up to 0.44 m/s with a 2.0 t load, it’s a true all-round talent for indoor and outdoor use, which is why it’s the best-selling forklift in the entire RX model series, with more than 50,000 trucks sold.

The RX 60-80, for loads up to 8.0 t, reached the final short list in the category “Counterbalanced Trucks 3.5 t and above”. The clean, compact power pack is the STILL Company’s most powerful electric truck. Thanks to its compact construction, ergonomic operating concept and unobstructed view, the 80 V truck is easy to handle and extremely manoeuvrable. It also reaches top speeds up to 17 km/h and is characterised by low operating costs, quiet functioning and high working performance with precise hydraulics.

STILL entered the running in the “Warehouse Trucks” category with its new generation of reach trucks, the FM-X, with a load capacity of 1.0 t to 2.5 t. This machine, already honoured with the Red Dot Award 2014, has set new standards through Active Load Stabilisation (ALS) of the mast. This uses a balancing pulse to quickly and effectively stop the oscillations that occur at large lift heights. Other highlights include the integral ergonomics concept, large remaining load-bearing capacity of 1.0 t at a lift height of 13 m and higher driving and lifting speeds with a longer battery run time.

The system solution for an automatic raw materials warehouse for 24-hour production supply, developed by STILL for the plastic film manufacturer Kuraray Trosifol and implemented in only 9 weeks, has been nominated in the “Intralogistics Solutions” category. Among other things, the concept includes a highly compact channel storage system with 3,300 storage bays for pallets with Big Bags, seven STILL PalletShuttles, three automated FM-X reach trucks, two RX 60 electric trucks, a material flow computer and a master warehouse control computer. This involves the first-ever communication between the semi-automatic PalletShuttles and the automated FM-X reach trucks to bring raw materials to the right production supply station at the right time.

This year is already the third round of the IFOY Award, which was created in 2013. The jury has selected a total of 14 trucks, warehousing machines and intralogistics solutions from five manufacturers for the final of the IFOY Awards 2015. With this year’s nominations, STILL is optimally positioned to continue its series of successes, since the Hamburg intralogistics supplier was already able to celebrate one of the coveted trophies in both 2013 and 2014 (2013: STILL RX 70 Hybrid; 2014: STILL iGoEasy).
