Italian telehandler manufacturer Magni has unveiled a new five tonne/35 metre 360 degree telehandler – the RTH 5.35

The new machine has a similar chassis to the 30 metre RTH 5.30 but it is 150mm longer and has been reinforced to cope with the additional stresses imposed by the longer boom.

The new six section boom employs two external telescope cylinders, leaving the interior free for the extension chains, hydraulic hoses and pipework, which the company says allows better spacing to avoid fouling or rubbing.

The boom extension is controlled electronically, the largest telescoping section is extended by the cylinder placed on the lower side of the boom its extension is limited depending on the boom angle, the higher the angle the further it can be telescoped, in order to maintain stability without adding excessive machine weight. The upper four sections are extended by the cylinder on the upper side of the boom, and a chain extension system. Lifting capacity at full height is 2.2 tonnes.

When fitted with Magni’s top end work platform attachment, a working height of 48 metres is possible, with full control from the platform using the company’s patented remote control system.

The new machine uses a Euro 4 final Mercedes diesel, coupled to a single Bosch Rexroth hydrostatic pump and motor. The load sensing hydraulic system also uses a Bosch Rexroth pump, coupled to a seven section Sauer Danfoss valve bank.

The operators cab is the same as that seen on other Magni 360 machines with full vision glass, but it has been moved forward on the superstructure to provide the operator with improved visibility for road travel.

The new model will make its first public appearance at Intermat next year.
