The SHD Logistics team are at Hannover's intralogistics fair, CeMAT 2014, to report on new products and features on display at this international event.
CeMAT 2014, taking place all this week in Hannover, is once again, a huge affair. Overwhelming in fact. Despite the entire SHD Logistics team sporting flat shoes and the right attitude, it's impossible to visit every stand and learn of every new product innovation at this international show – but we're certainly trying.
Toyota Material Handling is, for the first time, positioned within the Pavillion, taking a position traditionally held by Linde, who chose not to exhibit this year. Hyundai's managing director Mr S. G Khee, at a press conference held on Monday, was quick to point out the absence of companies like Linde, Doosan and Hyster. The event's two year cycle may be one reason some of the industry's biggest names are absent this year – and they're not alone – the event has one less hall in operation.
Despite the absence of some old CeMAT friends, the SHD Logistics team has plenty of new product features to report on. This year Schäfer's stand covers an area of over 1,400 square metres, and visitors are invited to see its new system for order preparation picking, which identifies products within 0.25 seconds – through photographic identification.
Hänel has expanded the dimensions of a typical storage solution with its new extra-wide version of the Lean-Lift, with a width of up to 4.88 m, which was demonstated to the SHD Logistics team on Tuesday.
Toyota Material Handling in its new position, exhibited forklift designs as well as its I-Site fleet management system, which won an International ForkLift Truck of the Year (IFOY) Award Monday night, which SHD Logistics editor Peter MacLeod helped judge.
