Cat® Lift Trucks, a leading provider of quality and reliable lift trucks, has recognized an exceptional Houston-area high school student, Ashley Johnson, with a $5,000 scholarship for her higher education pursuits at Texas Tech University. This year marks a decade of giving back with the Cat Lift Trucks Scholarship Program, which awards a deserving student based on his or her academic performance, extracurricular activities and community leadership and involvement.
Ashley Johnson was selected from more than 175 applicants to receive the scholarship based on her demonstration of academic merit, leadership and community involvement. Ashley currently holds the third highest rank in the 2014 graduating class at Magnolia High School in Magnolia ISD.
Ashley has served as National Honor Society president; president of Mu Alpha Theta, a mathematics honor society; and is the captain of the varsity swim team. She is also a member of the National Spanish Honor Society and recently competed in the UIL Mathematics Bowl.
Ashley is active in the community by volunteering at a local food and clothing donation center, Society of Samaritans, and by participating in various service activities through her church. In the fall, she will pursue a degree in chemical engineering at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
“We are excited to celebrate a decade of supporting Houston-area high school students with this annual scholarship program,” said Kent Eudy, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Cat Lift Trucks. “We are proud to recognize Ashley for her academic achievement and her extraordinary contributions to our community.”
Ashley Johnson accepted her scholarship at an awards reception on March 23, 2014, at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™, where Cat Lift Trucks celebrated a decade as the Official Lift Truck Provider. Over the past 10 years, the company has awarded more than $88,000 to Houston-area students.
