On August 8 Jungheinrich opened a new plant in Qingpu (Shanghai), replacing the previous production plant located in the immediate vicinity. The new plant was built according to the latest environmental standards, with a production capacity of over 10,000 industrial trucks per year. The trucks will be locally developed and produced adhering to European standards and incorporating Jungheinrich quality.
“At Qingpu we are building modern, energy-efficient Jungheinrich forklifts based on European quality standards. The new plant provides us with an opportunity to produce additional truck types and larger quantities in line with market demand,” declared Hans-Georg Frey, Chairman of the Board of Management of the Jungheinrich group at the plant opening ceremony in Qingpu on August 8.
The new plant, which was built within the span of just one year, will be used for the development and production of pedestrian-controlled trucks as well as counterbalanced and reach trucks for the entire Asia-Pacific region. To pave the way for the project Jungheinrich purchased 60,000 square metres of land in the industrial district of Qingpu. The new production area measures 36,000 square metres, while the office building boasts some 4,000 square metres of floor space spread over three storeys. The new production facility replaces the previous plant, erected in 2006, which had reached the limits of its capacity.
