At the international transport logistic trade fair in Munich, the Hamburg company STILL GmbH underlined its competence in developing and applying alternative drive systems. STILL is a leading supplier of customized intralogistics solutions worldwide. In addition to the first series-produced hybrid forklift-truck, the RX 70 Hybrid, the company also presented the latest developments in the area of alternative drive concepts, for example fuel cell technology, at the trade fair held from 4th to 7th June in the Bavarian state capital. Jens Pasche, international corporate communications at STILL, stresses in his speech about alternative drive concepts that “Energy-efficient intralogistics is the future.”
The Hamburg based company took part in the transport logistic fair for the first time, in the context of the Blue Competence sustainability initiative by the German Machinery and Plant Manufacturing Association (VDMA).
Efficiency of energy and resources is not only an important theme for road traffic but also for internal transportation of goods. The German Transport Minister Dr. Peter Ramsauer is aware of it, too. He visited the Blue Competence joint stand in person and was especially impressed by the STILL RX 70 Hybrid. Matthias Klug, STILL’s Head of International Corporate Communications, explained the advantages of the STILL RX 70 Hybrid forklift truck to him.
The STILL RX 70 Hybrid is by far the most economical vehicle in its class. It uses the principle of electric power transmission to recover energy: the energy generated during braking is converted into electricity and stored temporarily in high-performance double-layer capacitors called ultracaps. This energy is subsequently made available to the vehicle again.
Blue Competence is a sustainability initiative by the German Machinery and Plant Manufacturing Association (VDMA) and supported by STILL, whose objective is to focus the industry’s strengths and know-how in order to occupy the role of worldwide technology leader in sustainability questions. 37 specialist trade associations and organizations as well as more than 350 member companies are taking part in the Initiative, which was represented with a joint stand at the transport logistic trade fair in Munich from 4th to 7th June 2013. With more than 2,000 exhibitors from 63 countries and over 40,000 visitors, the event is one of the leading international trade fairs for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management.
