The battery technology mastered by BYD is called iron alkaline battery, and is now successfully applied on BYD E6 series of electrical autos and BYD K9 series of electric buses, which have been highly praised by the government and the media during Universiade 2011 Shenzhen. Relying on the state-of-art iron alkaline battery technology, BYD entered electric forklift industry in 2009, with investment of RMB 200 million Yuan. After three-year’s preparation and technological development, the first phase of project had been built up in Huizhou Industrial Park, and it had become a production base for electric forklifts with annual production amount reaching 2,000 sets. As for the second phase of project, BYD plans to construct a production base of 20,000 square meters for construction vehicles, which will be put into production since 2013 with an expected annual production amount of 20,000 sets.
