Harsco, one of the world’s largest industrial companies chose Nissan forklifts for their ability to handle tough lifting jobs on different work surfaces.
Operating in 50 countries, Harsco’s four business units, Metals and Minerals, Infrastructure, Rail and Industrial deliver essential services, products and resource recovery solutions to a vast range of industries. The Infrastructure business is one of the world’s largest scaffolding contractors and suppliers of rental access equipment.
Mark Tempany, Logistics Manager for Harsco explains that scaffolding, being bulky and heavy is difficult to handle for forklifts, especially when the machines have to deal with four different working surfaces including smooth warehouse floor, coarse asphalt road, concrete loading area and dirt yard. Nissan forklifts were selected based on their ability to handle these tough conditions.
Harsco’s Brisbane facility utilises four Nissan gas forklifts including a new Nissan 1F Series 2.5t forklift to mainly pick and load/unload steel scaffolding. The company was previously using Mitsubishi forklifts but decided to look at all available options when the lease was up.
After testing different brands, Harsco chose the Nissan 1F Series for reasons such as increased driver comfort as well as more responsive functions and better visibility.
Ten months following the introduction of the Nissans, Harsco has observed several advantages of working with the forklift model. A big reduction in fuel usage has been a major benefit for the company.
The 1F Series achieves its high performance and improved fuel efficiency through an advanced K series engine with ECCS (Electronic Concentrated Control System). Choosing the ECCS option provides an instant 5.5% fuel saving over the carburettor model. By switching to economy mode, a further 17% reduction can be achieved resulting in a massive 22.5% overall fuel reduction.
Features such as sway control system, mast lock system, parking brake warning buzzer and automatic transmission lock out system in the 1F Series further enhance Nissan Forklift’s reputation as a leader in safety, comfort and ease of operation.
Powerlift Material Handling Pty Ltd , through its Powerlift and Nissan Forklift ranges offers a forklift for every application.
