They are colossal devices made of rugged steel to lift heavy loads – but are they intelligent? Whoever has viewed forklift trucks as mere hardware without intelligence will have to rethink this concept at latest after visiting the CeBIT 2012: STILL as provider of internal logistics solutions to meet individual demands is turning forklift trucks into intelligent, smart tools with its “STILL Fleet Data Services”. This is a package comprising as many as three software solutions to acquire and process data of trucks and drivers. And the highlight is that the software provides the data online at any time and any place around the world. By this, STILL once again underlines its position as innovation driver for the industry with its inventor spirit and a distinct sense for customer needs. STILL is a company that takes up the challenges of internal logistics.
Right after the foundation of the company, more than 90 years ago, STILL started to focus on future trends such as electro-mobility and speeding up of internal transports by building mobile power generators. In 1949, the first STILL forklift truck saw the light of day. Be it providing information by the internet or visionary concept cars to carry innovations – STILL constantly identifies important technological milestones to develop practical solutions for the respective customer wishes on the market. This way STILL took up the trend toward global e-business in an “on demand world” by launching the STILLReport in 2008. This software allows to organise, analyse and optimise complete fleets with web-based software tools and provides logistics companies with a quick and clear overview of their whole fleet.
Globalisation and changing energy sources lead to fast changes for all areas in the logistics industry, at the same time giving rise to higher demands for customised services and products that are compatible with customer software already in place. In this development, it is necessary to bear in mind the increasing requirements for data protection. Because associating each logistics manoeuvre with a digital “footprint” increases the requirements for the software on board of the trucks.
For example, STILLFleetManager 4.x allows to acquire and process detailed truck and driver data and make this data available online. Different access permissions are administered by access control with chips, chip cards or PIN codes.
With STILLProActive, the third product from Fleet Data Services, STILL allows its customers to eliminate any malfunction quicker. The intelligent truck sends error codes directly to the STILL service. This enables service to start repairing the truck earlier and reduces the number of visits service has to make to the customer – a fact not only good for the customer but also for the environment.
STILLReport, STILLFleetManager 4.x and STILLProActive – the interplay of all three software products under the roof of „Fleet Data Services“, makes STILL customers fit for the future in a web-based world of logistics; always keeping an eye on the needs of the operator in the driver’s seat.
