Perkins has been recognised as “Foreign Manufacturer with Most Contribution to the Industry” in a survey organised by HC360, the most visited industry website in China.

The awards are organised under the guidance of the Parts and Components Chapter, China Construction Machinery Association (CCMA), and supported by relevant government agencies overseeing the construction machinery industry, as well as major trade journals.

In the first round of popular voting, statistics from the organizing committee showed that 1,672,608 votes were cast across nine award categories. In the Foreign Manufacturer with Most Contribution to the Industry category, Perkins quickly took the lead and succeeded in maintaining its position throughout the four week voting period.

Seasoned experts in the Chinese construction machinery industry were the judges for the second stage of the contest, the expert review.

Among them were leading officials from the Construction Machinery Industry Association, including Mr Su Zhimeng, secretary general, Ms Jia Xiaowen, secretary general, parts and components chapter and Mr Ma Zhuanwei, principal adviser, parts and components chapter, as well as directors of research institutes operated by major Chinese OEMs.

Shortlisted candidates were assessed according to their submitted profile and market research data collected by the panel. Different percentages were assigned to each of the selection criterion including popular voting, expert review, media and buyers review. A final score was calculated for each candidate based on the weighted scores.

In a grand award presentation ceremony held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, Beijing, Perkins Wuxi operation director Gerard Steel accepted the award on behalf of the company. The audience warmly applauded his short speech in Mandarin.

Nigel Baseley, marketing director at Perkins thanked all those who had supported Perkins in 2011 and in 2010, when the company was named as one of the Top Five Most Influential Power System Brands.
