The centre, which includes offices, a workshop and test facilities will focus in introducing technologies to meet the increasing needs of Hyster customers for the future and further demonstrates how of Hyster equipment is investing in innovation and new technologies for the future.

In recent years, Hyster has successfully introduced new technologies to the market across its range of materials handling equipment. Recent highlights include the introduction of Tier 4i / Stage IIIB compliant “Big Trucks”, the award winning tyre saving axle technology and new energy efficient diesel and electric forklift trucks.

Mark Stent, Engineering Operations Leader explains “Our aim is to complement and support the existing design centres located around the world. We will support them with a truly global view and ensure Hyster remains a market leader in years to come.”

The highly experienced team of design engineers will develop 3D models, build prototype forklifts and components, test and validate equipment prior to introduction into the manufacturing process. The first projects undertaken at the centre include developments that will further enhance the range of Hyster warehouse equipment.

“We will be developing new Hyster concepts that help reduce cost of ownership and increase productivity, reliability and energy efficiency,” he says. “Hyster already has a technically leading product range and we want to maintain this lead as technology evolves. It is an exciting time for innovation.”
