□ Doosan (Chairman: Y.H. Park) will be the Patron of The Open Championship, the oldest and most renowned of the world’s four major golf tournaments, for the second year running, in the UK.
□ The Open is organized by the R&A and five companies including Doosan, Rolex, Mercedes Benz, HSBC and Nikon are the official Patrons. Doosan is the only Korean-based company to serve as an official Patron of The Open Championship.
□ Held for four days from July 14 to 17, The Open will be attended by 180,000 spectators and broadcast to 190 countries worldwide including Europe and the Americas by the BBC, ESPN and various other networks. In sponsoring the event for a second year running, Doosan plans to accelerate its efforts to improve its brand awareness and consolidate Doosan’s global image.
□ “Sponsoring the 2010 The Open greatly helped to introduce the Doosan brand worldwide,” Myoungwha Choi, the executive managing director of Doosan Corp. said. “As we are sponsoring The Open again this year, we will focus on improving Doosan’s global image through continued brand exposure and on placing strategic advertisements targeting the global markets.”
□ “We are delighted to have Doosan as our Patron again this year. We continue to see our international audiences increasing and I believe Doosan’s support portrays it as a truly global company” said Michael Tate, director of the R&A.
□ Doosan, which aims to become one of the global top 200 business groups by 2020, is actively penetrating global markets with the DPS (Doosan Power Systems), which manages the power generation business in the Americas and Europe, and Doosan Infracore International, which manufacturers small construction equipment under the brand of Bobcat among others.
