On June 30, 2011, Doosan’s activity of Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Month, taking the theme of Protecting Environment and Establishing Green Doosan, Loving life and Building up a Better Home, was successfully closed after lasting for four months with the active participation of all the employees. Since March, a series of EHS activity left a more impressive image of EHS to the employees, who had dramatically improved their sense of safety and environmental protection.

•Self-Check and Self-Investigation for Potential Danger

In March, through organizing different EHS shifts and teams to conduct self-check and self-investigation for potential danger and make EHS inspection to their own locations, the employees looked carefully for the potential accidental danger in time and restructured their work under the guidance of EHS. Through EHS activity, Doosan employees discovered the accidental dangers and reduced the rate of accidents. What’s more important, through this activity the workers in the front line enhanced their enthusiasm to take part in EHS management of the company.

•Publicizing and Practicing of EHS Key Rules
In April, Doosan carried out the publicizing and practicing of EHS key rules through dividing the employees into different shifts and teams. After identifying the crucial dangerous factors in the shifts and teams they belonged to on the basis of self-checking the potential dangers. According to this activity, Doosan worked out the key rules of EHS and performing the rules, constructing the unique and specific EHS culture for each shift and team.

•Article & Cartoon Contest in the Theme of Safety

In May, Doosan started the article and cartoon contest in the theme of “Safety in My Heart”. Taking the Doosan Infracore Shandong Co., Ltd. as an example, the employees expressed their understanding towards the importance of EHS in the forms of writing articles and drawing cartoons. Through this contest, Doosan collected 120 articles of the thoughts on safe operation and 58 hand painted cartoons to publicize the EHS idea. The final championships of article and cartoon contest were respectively awarded by locomotive equipment shift and equipment management team.

The conduction of article and cartoon contest for safe operation not only showed the unique talents of the employees and enriched the cultural life of all the workers, but also strengthened the sense of EHS at all levels of the company.

•EHS Knowledge Contest

In June, each shift and team appointed their representatives to take part in the EHS knowledge contest, which consisted of three parts, such as questions & answers, lightening round and team discussion. All the questions were designed to root on the actual production situation in Doosan Infracore Shandong Co., Ltd. and got close to the workers in the first line. With articles and pictures, the contest was ended in a hot atmosphere. Through fierce competition, the teams of production check, producing process investigation and subcontract procurement investigation ranked to be the first three during all the contesters.

After four-month’s activities concerning EHS, there appeared a number of excellent and diligent workers, among which the second team of Production Department II performed to be the most outstanding team in series of activities and was awarded to be the Best EHS Activity Team.

On the conclusion meeting of EHS activity, the General Manager of Doosan Infracore Shandong Co., Ltd. stated that the manufacturing site had been improved to an unanticipated degree while the EHS sense of all the workers and employees also enhanced a lot. “The conclusion is not the end, but a new starting point for EHS activity,” he said, “a first-class international enterprise can not go further without the strict control of EHS. We every worker shall take the task of complying EHS requirements as our own mission to reach the aim of EHS Global Audit A level in the second half year of 2011, making our manufacturing site to be not only eco-friendly but also free from potential accidents in the future.”
