Today (Wednesday, 29 June) marks the start of the 100 day countdown to the greatest race in the East.
In just 100 days time, more than 5,000 runners and walkers of all abilities and ages will take to Peterborough’s streets for the Perkins Great Eastern Run. Some will be running the 13.1 mile half marathon and others taking part in the 4km Fun Run or Junior Challenge.
Over the course of the next three and a half months, free training sessions will be taking place for those thinking of participating in the race; and planning will be stepping up for what promises to be a day of fun in the city – even for those not taking part.
Race director Stuart Hamilton said: “We’ll be exceptionally busy over the next 100 days as we finalise all the planning for the big race.
“So much goes on behind the scenes, from planning and staffing the course, to setting up the circuit, to co-ordinating volunteers and making sure we’re sending out race numbers and information packs to people who have entered the races.
“Entries are now coming in at quite a rate and we do expect a load more over the next month as the race gets nearer.”
