Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (President & CEO Geewon Park) wins orders for facilities and equipment worth US$ 343 million for power plants in Saudi Arabia and Korea.
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction announced on June 7 that it had won orders for major facilities and equipment worth US$ 282 million, including three boilers and three steam turbines from Hanwha Engineering & Construction, which is constructing the Marafiq Yanbu II thermal power plant in Saudi Arabia. Earlier, on May 19, the Company won orders for two steam turbines worth US$ 65 million for the Pocheon combined cycle thermal power plant in Gyeonggi Province, Korea, which Daelim Industrial Co. is constructing.
The Marafiq Yanbu II thermal power plant will be constructed at the Yanbu Industrial Complex, some 300 kilometers north of Jeddah, on the shores of the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia. Hanwha Engineering and Construction acquired the project from Marafiq of Saudi Arabia last April.
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction will produce and supply major facilities and equipment for the two projects by 2013.
Executive Vice President Dongsoo Suh (Head of the Power Plant BG) of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, said, “The power plant facilities and equipment market has been expanding in recent months,” adding, “In line with this trend, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction reformed its organizational structure in early May, and as a result, the Company is winning successive orders.”
Early May, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction revamped its conventional Power Plant BG, and established the EPC* BG in charge of the power EPC business, and the Power BG exclusively responsible for the power plant facilities and equipment business, including boilers and turbines.
* EPC: Engineering Procurement & Construction refers to the method by which a vendor comprehensively executes a project, ranging from the design of a plant to the production and purchase of facilities and equipment and test operation of the plant.
