On May 23, a CSR(Corporate Social Responsibility) agreement was signed between Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction President Geewon Park and Changwon Mayor Wan-su Park in a ceremony held at the Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction headquarters in the city of Changwon.

Doosan pledged to focus on the following support for younger people: better care for those from less privileged households; support for those with exceptional talent; more job opportunities, general support for projects carried out by the City of Changwon. The Community Service Corps, composed of more than 6,000 employees of Doosan, will also engage in community-friendly service activities.

Regarding the provision of support for young people from less privileged households, Doosan will provide US$ 0.45 million to 66 children’s welfare centers in the city, with which it established cooperative ties earlier this year. The Community Service Corps will offer volunteer opportunities through a variety of programs, such as after-school learning sessions, hands-on experience activities, and recreational activities.

With regard to the need to train talented young people and provide jobs for them, Doosan will provide the following: financial aid to cover tuition fees for a total of 250 middle/high school students with good school grades and from low-income families; financial aid to cover tuition fees for students at Changwon Science School; and a counseling session for job seekers which will be launched in 2012. The Company will also sign an agreement with Changwon Mechanical High School to seek potential cooperative opportunities.

Other initiatives include the development of Bansong-ro into a street dedicated to arts and lighting and the organization of the very first Changwon Residents Day (July 1).

Changwon Mayor Wan-su Park said, “It is great to see Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction setting such a fine example in the field of corporate social responsibility. I appreciate the efforts made by the company and wish it all the best."

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction President & CEO Geewon Park noted, “We will expand our community service programs, including support for less privileged households, in a way that would set the standard for corporate social responsibility that befits a reputable business."
