Results from the first series of targetted inspections of forklift safety in Alberta are expected on Tuesday.
Employment and Immigration Minister Thomas Lukaszuk ordered the inspection in February after a high number of forklift-related deaths had occurred in recent years.
Government officials were given the responsibility to inspect workplaces that typically use forklifts.
They also reserved the right to issue stop-use orders on the machinery and even stop-work orders on the site if any problems were found.
"There is no excuse for worker health and safety to be at risk," Lukaszuk said.
Forklifts are complex pieces of machinery that require special training to properly use.
A 40-year-old man was killed while operating a forklift at a transport truck facility in southeast Calgary in 2008.
It's wasn't clear how it happened, but the man was crushed and trapped underneath the fork arm.
