06th dec 2010 – The forklift truck maker and intralogistics provider Still, based in Hamburg, is expanding its product range by the RC 40 diesel and LPG converter trucks with load capacities of 1.5 to 3.0 tonnes. With this STILL underlines its claim to offer a suitable product for any logistics demand. The trucks convince with their dependability, easy handling and very well thought-out solutions.
With the RC 40, Still picks up on good experience in the history of the enterprise. Still has already been successful with the trucks of the R 40 series.
A capsulated hydrodynamic converter transmits the power to the front wheels. These large front wheels make the truck very suitable for outdoor operation. In outdoor applications the RC 40 complements the known RX 70 with its diesel-electric drive. The RC 40 combines productivity and economics. It is a user-friendly truck offering well thought-out design details. Opposed to the success model RX70 which is designed for optimum use of energy, the RC 40 is the perfect entry model.
The RC 40 series: ideal for outdoor operation
The RC 40 features a large floor clearance and is especially suitable for bumpy transport roads.
Several features were implemented to reduce the body vibrations of the operator: The large drive wheels reduce hard impacts from bumps in the road, the cabin is mounted on four rubber shock absorbers and the foot space is clad with a special vibration dampening floor mat. In addition, vibrations are also dampened by the high quality Grammer seats.
Large and user-friendly workspace
The operator will feel at home at once in the large workspace of the RC 40 which is also available with a cabin. The angle of the steering column adjusts to any size of driver. The controls for the hydraulic functions are excellent to reach from the driver’s seat and the display is clear to read. The practical DIN A4-sized storage space is located beside the seat. The standard seat is the known Grammer MSG 20. Optionally various versions of the Grammer seat MSG 65 are also available.
The large foot space is free of obstacles giving the feet of the driver freedom to move comfortably. The tilt angle of the floor plate and the low positioning of the pedals allow the driver to hold his feet at a relaxed position when operating the pedals.
Safety as a result of controlled lift and drive movements (MoveControl)
Safety starts with good visibility. The panoramic visibility of the RC 40 is exemplary – for example by offering full visibility through the mast. Safety for the driver is further increased by the large access step which is visible from the top.
The optional twin pedal control offers the operator two advantages: First he can change the drive direction with his foot and second he can safely lift fast and drive slow at the same time (inching). If the driver depresses both pedals at once, the diesel engine will speed up according to how far the pedals are pressed. However, the truck will move neither forward nor backward (MoveControl). This is a unique safety function only available for the RC 40.
A conventional truck with a torque converter will tend to creep away if a direction of travel is selected. The RC 40 behaves safely, because it will only start moving if a drive direction for forward travel or reversing is selected and the accelerator pedal is depressed.
High availability included
For easy maintenance and fast service, all important components in the engine compartment are well accessible. The engine cover can be opened to an upright position and the floor plate is easy to remove. All inspection and maintenance points are located within easy reach.
