"Phoenix 1" rescue capsule returned to 2010 Shanghai Expo Chile Pavilion
A Jungheinrich Counterbalance Truck delivered the capsule across the Expo area

The title story of the “China Morning News” reported that after a journey across half the globe, the "Phoenix 1" rescue capsule, which played a remarkable role in the mineworkers’ rescue in Chile arrived in China yesterday. The “capsule which successfully saved the life of 33 mine-worker’s "was transported to the Shanghai Expo yesterday morning in a standard wooden box. The capsule shall now be displayed in the Chile Pavilion. For this reason the Chile Pavilion and the Expo Official Logistics Service Provider, Sinotrans, had to develop a detailed plan to carefully deliver and install the capsule.

A Jungheinrich truck played a crucial role for the safe delivery. The "Phoenix 1" is a 4 meters long and 450 kg heavy equipment. The Jungheinrich Electric Counterbalance Forklift EFG320, produced in Jungheinrich’s Qingpu factory, ensured the safe handling of the capsule. The EFG 320 powered by a 3-phase ac motor has a maximum load of 2 tons and is a market-leading forklift with outstanding performance and superior safety features. With its high residual capacity and a patented Curve Control system it is the right choice to handle this kind of big and irregularly sized goods.

Expo visitors will be able to see the "capsule which successfully saved the life of 33 mine workers" in the Chile Pavilion from tomorrow on.

Jungheinrich is the chosen partner of the official logistic service providers for the Expo – Sinotrans and Agility. It supplied around 60 trucks during the Shanghai World Expo to ensure a safe and proper transportation of material and goods. Jungheinrich is leading the forklift market in performance and energy efficiency to guarantee “better logistics”.

Jungheinrich ranks among the world’s leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is a logistics service provider with manufacturing operations, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, shelving systems, services and consulting covering the entire field of intralogistics. Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.
