Doosan (Y.H. Park, Chairman) held a ceremony on July 18 to donate an excavator to The Open Championship at St. Andrews Old Course, where The Open takes place.
The donation ceremony was arranged as part of efforts to expand cooperation between Doosan, the first Korean company to serve as a patron of The Open, and the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of Britain, which organizes the world's oldest golf major. In attendance at the ceremony were Yongmaan Park, Chairman and CEO of Doosan Corp.; Geewon Park, President and CEO of Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction; and Peter Dawson, Chief Executive of the R&A.
Doosan Infracore’s DX55W, the donated model, is one of the company’s flagship wheel excavators and is widely used at small construction sites. If diverse attachments are installed, the excavator can have wide-ranging applications in the management of golf course facilities, including maintenance of the spectators’ facilities.
Peter Dawson, the Chief Executive of The R&A said “We are very pleased that Doosan have donated a DX55W excavator for use at Open Championship venues. The Excavator will provide important support for installing infrastructure and services at all of the venues that The Open visits.”
Meanwhile, Doosan is proactively beefing up its campaigns to expand into overseas markets as it aims to join the ranks of the global top 200 companies by 2020. The company is serving as an Official Patron of The Open Championship as part of its drive to increase its brand awareness in the global market.
