Following the announcement last week that Briggs Equipment is to take on the Yale forklift business in the UK, Cat Lift Trucks - the brand Briggs will supplant with Yale at the end of September - has issued a statement confirming its commitment to its customers in the UK.

The statement, issued in Holland to the UK press, reads: "You may have seen the announcement of the planned changes in the operations of our dealer, Briggs Equipment (UK) Ltd. We would like to confirm the current situation.

"We are committed to all of our global customers and particularly to those in the UK, which will continue to be a key market for us. 

"Cat Lift Trucks has been a leading brand in the UK for a great many years and our customers are extremely important to us. Our priority is to ensure that a complete service is maintained, with a focus on improvement in the future. We have not ended the relationship with Briggs. They will continue to support all users of our products until further notice. 

"Due to reasons of confidentiality, we are currently unable to make any announcement about future arrangements. However, please be assured that we have detailed plans in place. We will certainly advise our customers in more detail within the next few weeks."
