Staff from the learning team at Perkins donned their wellies and gardening gloves last week in aid of local charity Sue Ryder Care - Thorpe Hall Hospice. The volunteers gave up a day to help to clear ivy from the walls in Thorpe Hall’s grade 2 listed gardens.
Perkins is currently raising vital funds for Sue Ryder Care as its charity of the year and its dedicated staff have already raised over £40,000 in the first year of the two-year partnership.
Ruth Hutchinson, lead volunteer from Perkins commented: ”The team had a fantastic day in aid of a very worthwhile cause. We cleared all the ivy from the full length of the front wall which was a real achievement. The gardeners at Thorpe Hall were so helpful throughout, and we really enjoyed the day.”
Natalie Riddler, area fundraising manager for Sue Ryder Care, said: “We cannot thank Perkins enough for the fantastic difference they have made to the grounds at Thorpe Hall. The gardens provide a great deal of comfort and pleasure to the patients we care for.”
