The Jungheinrich group continues to expand its logistics systems division, successfully netting two major orders in the double-digit millions.
Following its acquisition in 2009 of a stake in the Austrian software provider for warehousing and materials handling applications ISA GmbH which is headquartered in Graz, Jungheinrich has set an additional milestone for its logistics systems business area: Starting immediately, the Hamburg-based enterprise will be implementing two major projects worth a total of some 12 million euros. “These orders prove that Jungheinrich strategic decision to systematically enlarge its logistics systems division was correct and forward-looking,” declared Richard Brandstetter, Head of Logistics Systems at Jungheinrich.
For the Develey GmbH company — southern Germany’s leading manufacturer of mustard, ketchup, sauces and pickled preserves — Jungheinrich will serve as the general contractor for an automated high-rack warehouse. This 43-metre high new silo-construction warehouse will have a capacity of more than 22,500 storage slots at two-deep storage.
Following initial start-up, pallet handling at the new warehouse will be performed by three fully automated, mono-aisle rack storage and retrieval units outfitted with load pick-up devices which will enable them to take on two pallets at a time. The scope of services includes roof and wall cladding, extensive pallet handling equipment, pallet wrappers and labellers and warehouse management technology.
The second major project involves the establishment of a new logistics centre for the Blickle Räder+Rollen GmbH company located in Rosenfeld, Germany. The challenge here lies in the heavy weight of the goods to be stored. In future latticed boxes with a weight of up to 1,500 kilogrammes will be stored in an automated pallet warehouse with a total of 15,300 slots. In addition, a new small parts warehouse is to be constructed, with space for more than 27,000 containers with a weight of up to 60 kilogrammes, stored two-deep.
The high-rack warehouse will have six fully automated, mono-aisle rack storage and retrieval units as well as special latticed box handling equipment. The automated small parts warehouse will have two rack storage and retrieval units equipped with load pick-up devices for taking on two pallets at a time, including container handling technology. At a total of 12 combined workplaces, orders will be commissioned from latticed boxes as well as from containers, according to the principle of “goods to the person”. All processes will be managed by the Jungheinrich warehouse management system WMS.
Over the past six years, Jungheinrich has gradually expanded its logistics systems division. The focus has been on tailored solutions, consisting either of manual warehouse systems that deploy the Warehouse Management System and wireless communications, or of fully automated warehouse systems which use rack storage and retrieval units and materials handling equipment, or a combination of the two. Jungheinrich supports its customers from the initial consultation to project planning and system integration, all the way to after-sales service for ongoing operations.
Jungheinrich ranks among the world’s leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is a service provider with manufacturing operations as well as an intralogistics solution provider, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, shelving systems, services and consulting. Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.
