WESTPORT, CT, March 25, 2010 – Terex Corporation (NYSE: TEX) has announced that it is the presenting sponsor for Confronting the Crisis: Solving our Regional Transportation Infrastructure Issues, the third conference it has held in conjunction with Iona College on the topic of infrastructure investment in the United States.  To be held April 8 on the Iona campus in New Rochelle, New York, the conference will focus on how the Tri-State Region’s outmoded transportation infrastructure is affecting the economy and quality of life and what can be done to address the problems.

“In my lifetime, we have moved from a time when we understood that investment in infrastructure enabled economic growth to the point where we have allowed our nation’s highways, bridges and rails to deteriorate such that our ability to efficiently and safely move people and goods is seriously impaired,“ says Terex Chairman and CEO Ron DeFeo.  “The 2010 Iona Infrastructure Conference stands as an example of what it means to think nationally and act regionally.  Given its importance as a population center, financial capital and commercial hub, what happens with tri-state transportation infrastructure truly affects the nation.  It will take many years of concerted activity if we are to overcome short-term politics, adopt new visions, and undertake the building of the transportation infrastructure that we need for a new century.”

Expert speakers at the conference will include: U.S. Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-NY; Stanley Gee, New York Secretary of Transportation; Joseph Marie, Connecticut Secretary of Transportation; Thomas DiNapoli, New York State Controller; Richard Larrabee, Director, Port Commerce, Port Authority of New York & New Jersey; Howard Permut, President, MTA Metro-North Railroad; and Pete Ruane, President, American Road & Transportation Builders Association.

Additional sponsors of the conference include American Road and Transportation Builders, Tilcon, TBS Shipping, New York State Laborers, the Construction Industry Council of Westchester and Hudson Valley, and the Westchester County Business Journal.
