On December 31^st, 2009, Shanghai Demo Machinery & Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. held the opening ceremony for DEMO Sichuan Forklift & Logistic Equipment Production Base in Neijiang Chengxi Industrial Park in Sichuan Province. Tang Limin, Secretary of Neijiang Municipal Party Committee, Liu Chengming, Mayor of Neijiang, and Chen Zongshu, Chairman of People’s Political Consultative Conference of Neijiang and Zheng Youwei, Executive Chairman of the Board of Shanghai Demo Machinery & Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. attended the opening ceremony.

It was reported that the total investment of DEMO Sichuan Forklift & Logistic Equipment Production Base was 100-300 million Yuan. The production base planned to introduce the advanced forklift design, technique, manufacturing technology and management concepts from Germany, in order to build up DEMO forklift brand under the high standards of internationalization, specialization, energy-saving and environmental protection so as to expand the market broader. After putting into operation, the base would manufacture 1-3T battery forklift, reach forklift and electric stacker; 1-5T internal combustion forklift; 1-10T electrical handling truck and electric tractor. The project was designed to possess production capacity of 8000 sets of forklifts annually. The construction of the base would last for four years and was divided into two phases of construction. The first phase of the construction began on December 31^st, 2009 with construction period of one year; and the second phase of the construction would be started in February in 2013 and was expected to compete and put into operation before the end of February of 2014. 

As the fourth increasing pole the Nation focused to develop, Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Region had a prospective and bright market. Located in the center of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Region, Neijiang is the second largest transportation hub prior to Chengdu, owning incomparable location advantage in the city cluster in the south of Sichuan. What’s more, Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and Government was proceeding to construct the transportation hubs in the western part of China, which would provide more favorable conditions for the development of logistic industry due to the improvement of transportation. This also had given a considerable developing opportunity to the forklift manufacturing industry which would provide equipment support for the logistic enterprises. At the same time, Neijiang had undertaken the project of building Western Automobile Parts Base in China.

Therefore, that DEMO began to establish production base in Neijiang was not only in accordance with the development strategy of the enterprise to occupy the market in Western China, but also complying with the industrial development planning of Neijiang City. The construction of DEMO forklift production base in Neijiang would impel the establishment of Western Automobile Parts Base as well as the development of Logistic industry.
