NTP forklifts Australia has provided a new airfreight system to DHL Global Forwarding at its new facility at Tullamarine in Melbourne.

DHL has invested in new handling technology for airfreight cargo boxes to better serve their customers with improved freight integrity and turn around times.

The new system has reduced handling costs, improved safety, reduced operating space and freight igloo damage.

The system comprises of a powered conveyor handling system, linked by a slave pallet network. The slave pallets are transported within the warehouse by two custom built 7500kg freight box handling trucks by Jungheinrich Germany.

The custom built Jungheinrich trucks were supplied by NTP forklifts Australia.

These Jungheinrich trucks feature maintenance free AC motors on all functions, regenerative braking, automatic park brake on standstill, 180/360º electric steering, and Jungheinrich ‘curve control’ (automatic speed reduction on cornering).

The 48 volt AC drive system is based on Jungheinrich’s proprietary MOSFET transistor and CanBus control network.

The system is linked via SAAB connectors sealed to IP65 protection standards for high reliability. The custom built freight handlers also retain all standard Jungheinrich ergonomic and safety features.

These include clear diver visibly, with adjustable steering position, solo-pilot hydraulic controls and a 3 way adjustable operator suspension seat with lap-sash seat belt.

Adjustable drive parameters including speed limiting with smooth proportionate hydraulics are a ‘Jungheinrich standard’.

The remainder of the DHL Tullamarine fleet comprises of 13 x Jungheinrich battery electric counterbalance trucks, also featuring Jungheinrich’s proprietary AC drive systems and energy saving techniques.

This new 4th generation technology allows the Jungheinrich trucks to operate over two shifts with one battery charge! The DHL fleet also includes a Jungheinrich 5.00 tonne AC electric counterbalance truck, for handling odd or oversized freight.

NTP Forklifts is one of the largest privately owned forklift companies in Australia, and is the sole importer, distributor and service provider for Jungheinrich equipment. NTP offer service, sales, spare parts and rental equipment Australia wide.

The Jungheinrich Group is one of the world's three largest suppliers of industrial trucks, warehousing technology and materials flow technology. In Europe, Jungheinrich is the leading supplier of warehousing technology.

Since 1953, the Group, which has its headquarters in Hamburg, has been offering forklift-based products and services designed to get things moving for industrial customers.
