In 2009 Hyster marks 80 years in the materials handling business and today the company is still setting standards and delivering effective solutions for ports and terminals operations.
This ‘birthday’ provides an opportunity to reflect on the phenomenal success of the company since its beginnings in the North American lumber industry, in 1929; through its European expansion and its development into one of the strongest, industry leading materials handling equipment providers in the world today.
At this year’s TOC Europe (Terminal Operations Conference and Exhibition), a dedicated team of specialists from both Hyster Europe and the local distribution partner for Germany, Zeppelin, will be on-hand to answer questions and offer advice about how to optimise the handling and flow of containers and goods in ports and terminals. Hyster provides a full range of solutions suitable for various applications in ports and terminals, where reliability is essential; including dedicated empty and laden container handlers, reachstackers and a variety of forklift trucks.
In time-sensitive port operations, dependable equipment is essential to maintain the consistent flow of containers and goods. “Reachstackers, container handlers and big trucks are significant investments, and it is therefore critical for companies to make the right choice, to ensure that they generate the required return on investment, through maximising productivity and effectively managing operating costs” says, Antoon Cooijmans of Hyster.
Hyster is committed to continuous product development in order to meet the ever changing demands of customers’ handling needs, for example, this year sees the completion of the Hyster Fortens range of Internal Combustion engine trucks, with the addition of the new H8.0
The increased capacity, compact design particularly benefits operations with high attachment usage, ensuring that space, loads moved per hour and on-site efficiency is maximised to maintain low operating costs.
Hyster has a long established history in manufacturing dependable big trucks and container handlers for demanding 24/7 operations, at its factory in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Hyster’s products are supported by the most comprehensive independent distribution network in the industry, helping to maximise customer’s productivity and efficiency, and reduce overall operating costs.
