Jungheinrich Lift Truck Corp has donated an electric pallet jack to the Richmond, Virginia affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast cancer movement

Jungheinrich arranged for the Komen-pink paint job on the pallet jack and delivered the unit to the affiliate’s headquarters in advance of 12th Annual Richmond Race for the Cure on May 9, 2009. The pallet jack, which has a 3,000-pound capacity, was used to unload and transport equipment during this year’s fundraiser, which included more than 9,400 participants and raised over $800,000 this year.

“We wanted to give something back to the community,” says David Sarawesky, Jungheinrich planning manager. “We looked at a number of local organizations and found that this cause is very close to the heart of many of our employees.”

“We have so much equipment to move before the race, and many boxes on race day¯all of which would normally be handled manually,” says Ruthann Priest, a director of the Komen-Richmond affiliate and race co-chair. “All of our helpers are volunteers, so they really appreciate having some ‘electric’ help.”

About Jungheinrich

The Jungheinrich Group is one of the world's leading suppliers of industrial trucks, warehousing technology and materials flow technology. In Europe, Jungheinrich is the Number 1 supplier of warehousing technology. Since 1953, the Group, which has its headquarters in Hamburg, has been offering forklift-based products and services designed to get things moving for industrial customers.

Global distribution flows are on the increase: the transport sector is dominated by a high level of mobility and flexibility - with the result that made-to-measure, all-round solutions are rapidly replacing classic product ranges. Jungheinrich's response to this development has been the introduction of a modern, broadly-based array of products underpinned by an outstanding range of services.

The Jungheinrich Group produces in four plants: our Norderstedt plant, located in Hamburg's green belt; the Lüneburg plant, also close to Hamburg; Moosburg plant and an assembly plant in Qingpu (China).
