A powerful engine diagnostic tool is now available that will help save time and money for Perkins Engines customers and its distribution network.
Called the Perkins Electronic diagnostic Device (EDD) it will reduce the time it takes to diagnose possible faults and keep engine downtime to a minimum. And the fact that customers can use the hand-held device easily themselves means that distributors can cut the number of service visits they have to make, while ensuring they arrive on site armed with the correct tools for the job.
EDD demonstrates the advances in service support and the capabilities of Perkins’ electronic engines. The tool has been developed to make full use of the standard messages broadcast by the engines. It can also view low level network information and statistics, a feature not often seen in such a small device.
Among the device’s key features are:
· Large key pad that can be operated by gloved hands
· A backlit LCD display for easy reading
· Five metre diagnostic cable
· Robust casing which has been tested from a height of one metre
These features ensure EDD’s easy use in the field for the user who could be operating in dark confined spaces or extreme conditions. The tool also comes with a years warranty to provide piece of mind should the unexpected happen.
EDD has been extensively tested on Perkins’ full range of electronic control management engines. This testing has allowed the menu structure to be refined to ensure that any fault can be diagnosed in minutes without connecting to a laptop.
The tool can also support English, French, Italian, German and Spanish speaking territories.
