Shantui is the largest bulldozer manufacturer in China. In 2007, its output of bulldozers reached 3600 sets with domestic market share rate of 51%, among which 1418 were for export and export amount occupied 38% of the total output. As bulldozer is highly related to the infrastructure of earth construction and will be greatly influenced by the fluctuation of macro economy, while the company occupies relatively high domestic market share and product export rate, it is quite favorable for the smooth growth of company’s main operations and profits to enter forklift and compact excavator markets, which has little to do with fixed assets investment while possessing market enlarging space and rapid increasing speed.

In 2007, the output of forklifts increased 41.4% and sales of compact excavators increased 60% in China, both of which were higher than the 21.3% increase of bulldozers. According to the brief profit data provided by Shantui, it is anticipated that after reaching production rate, this project will bring in sales income of RMB 720 million Yuan and total profit of RMB 92.29 million Yuan, increasing about 0.1 Yuan for earnings for share.

During January to March in 2008, the sales of domestic bulldozers were accumulated to 2400 sets with a year-on-year increase of 675 sets and increasing margin of 39.1%;     while Shantui sells 1700 sets of bulldozers, increasing 43%, higher than the increase of the whole industry so that Shantui still goes well on this way.
