Today, the New Holland plant at Lecce (Italy) celebrated production of its 100,000th item of construction equipment. This was a 23-tonne W270B wheel loader, a series B flagship machine of the type made famous by the James Bond film “Casino Royale”.

With the series B, New Holland completes its assortment of wheel loaders, and it now offers the market a range of 8 models covering the whole spread from 10 to 23 tonnes.
Launched on the market last year, the W270B wheel loader is a very versatile, reliable machine, providing low fuel consumption, high productivity, exceptional stability and outstanding operator comfort.

“Serving about 70 countries, and exporting 80% of its output, the Lecce plant is a milestone in our company’s history,” declared Giampiero Biglia, Italian market manager for New Holland Construction. “During the last few years we have invested heavily in improving the already high quality standard of the machines produced, and we are proud of achieving this impressive production figure, which reflects the excellence of our production processes”.

Built in the early ‘70s, the Lecce plant is one of the New Holland centres of excellence for the production of real loaders, telescopic handlers and crawler dozers.
This production location’s key feature is its ability to manage a high degree of complexity. In fact, it produces 20 models of wheel loaders in almost 900 different version, 26 models of telescopic handlers with almost 1500 versions, and 10 models of crawler dozers in 120 versions.
All this is made possible by state-of-the-art production processes, variable mix assembly lines and, above all, the high degree of professionalism of the plant’s workforce.

“Today marks another major achievement for us, because we have also received the Product of the Year award, assigned to the telescopic handler by America’s Construction Equipment magazine,” stated Santi Cugno, plant manager.
Every year the magazine, recognised as one of the leading commentators on the equipment construction industry, selects the 100 new products it considers “winners” in their respective sectors in terms of technological innovation, productivity, environment-friendliness and safety. It chose the new New Holland series M telescopic handlers for their capacity to lift and handle materials, in these products’ first year of distribution in the United States.
