Beijing Delong Electric Power Equipment Co., Ltd. was established in 1997 in Beijing Tongzhou Industrial Development Zone, and is a fully European owned company.

Beijing Delong has received great support from the European companies with over 30 years’ experiences in the field. All products adopt technology and design from Switzerland and Germany, and key parts and components are imported from Germany. Chargers for traction batteries are specially designed for the Asian market. They are widely used as the battery charger for the equipments such as electric forklifts, electric golf cars, electric sightseeing cars, electric police-cars and electric cleaning machines. The chargers are fully automatic, multi-functional and high efficient, prolonging the use life of the battery and saving electric energy as well.

Beijing Delong has a leading position in the traction battery charger market in Asia. Till now, more than 100,000 chargers have been used with customer satisfaction in Asia; meanwhile, the products have also been sold to Europe and America. In the forthcoming years, the production capacity will be more than 25000 chargers annually. Beijing Delong has obtained the ISO 9001-2000 quality certificate. All the products conform to CE standard and some products gained UL certificate.

On Oct. 29, 2007, Chinaforklift.com (www.chinaforklift.com ) Northern Area Representative had a short visit of Beijing Delong Electric Power Equipment Co., Ltd. located in Beijing Tongzhou Industrial Development Zone, and specially interviewed the General Manager Ms. Ze Nan and Marketing Department Manager Mr. Zhang Kefa. They had a good communication on the performance and market share of Delong products.

Chinaforklift.com: Thank you for accepting the interview. GM Ze, as we all know, Delong charger are mainly matched for medium and high-end customers of industrial vehicles, how about present matching ratio?

GM Ze: Our products are mainly matched for the medium and high-end customers. In the forklift field, over 40% of our marketing share are matched for medium and high-end customers. Main customers abroad include top global forklift manufacturers, so does that at home.

Chinaforklift.com: The share rate of Delong charger is No. 1, isn’t it?
GM Ze: Yes, undoubtedly we are No.1 and we have been No.1 for many years.

Chinaforklift.com: Why do Delong chargers have so sigh matching ratio? Do you worry that competitors will catch up with you?
GM Ze: Our charger is advanced in technology, stable in quality, reasonable in price and complete in function. According to the feedback information, failure rate of our products is controlled within 5‰ in China and 3‰ in European head office. I believe that the users of our forklift chargers need not worry about the quality of our products as we have had 30 years’ experiences in the charger-manufacturing field. At present, domestic charger plants have enhanced and improved their products to certain extent. Of course, we are speeding up to extend the market for our new products, too.

Chinaforklift.com: Does Delong have explosion-proof charger?
GM Ze: Now our domestic products do not have explosion-proof function, but in Europe, the products have. The customers need to provide specific data. If the ventilation condition is good, common charging environment do not need to be explosion-proof. Of course, in relatively special situation, explosion-proof chargers are needed. Explosion-proof system is more reliable while the price is higher as well.

Chinaforklift.com: Have Delong ever thought of providing the industrial vehicle manufacturers with battery and charger together? How about the export ratio of the domestic plant at present?

GM Ze: Not yet. The sales situations are different at home and abroad. In China, Original Equipment Manufactures (OEM for short) buy batteries and chargers respectively, and it is not for tie-in sales. In 2007, total sales reached 130 million RMB Yuan, with export amounting to 50%.

Chinaforklift.com: How about domestic sales situation?
GM Ze: Sales for electric forklifts annually increase 26%-28% and sales for engine powered forklifts increase greatly. Our sales growth surely surpasses this ratio.

Chinaforklift.com: Mr. Zhang, can the charging time for the forklift charger be shortened revolutionarily?
Manager Zhang: our products in China have three classes: about 8 hours, 9 hours and 11 hours respectively. Charging time shall be decided by the parameters of the batteries and the using shifts of electric forklifts. If adopting SUPER II-type charger matched with air turbulence system, the charging time can be shortened to 6-7 hours, with a prerequisite of not damaging the battery.

Chinaforklift.com: What is the advantage of the identification system of the charger?
Manager Zhang: As for the forklift renters, they can correctly see how the forklifts are used. When there are some faults, we can check whether it’s the problem of charger or of battery. Then, it is quite clear for fees and responsibility. Forklift manufacturers can also make clear what is wrong.

Chinaforklift.com: Can the chargers be rented like forklifts?
GM Ze: Charger is always matched with forklift, so it’s rare to rent the charger only.

Chinaforklift.com: How does Delong charger present its environmental-protection and energy-saving features?
Manager Zhang: New generation chargers can save 10% energy comparing with the last generation products. We have launched our second-generation products in the second half year of 2005. It can not only shorten charging time by one hour, but also prolong the life of battery, which are good for the end users.

Chinaforklift.com: GM Ze, would you mind telling us the strategy of Delong at home in the future?
GM Ze: As we maintain exporting to Europe, we will develop the African, Indian and Mid-eastern markets at the same time There will be nearly million Yuan to be invested on technical research and development. Firstly, we will change to produce high-frequency machines in China instead of in Europe, so as to meet with different requirements of the customers; secondly, we will add identification system of battery in the charger; then, last but not the least, we will put forward environmental-protection and energy-saving type products to meet the demand of external environment.

Chinaforklift.com: Are the domestic competitors improving their technology fast? Does malignant competition exist in the field of industrial vehicle charger?
GM Ze: Domestic chargers technology has been improved fast, too. As for us, there is no malignant competition as we mainly serve for medium and high-end customers.
