Queen Margrethe II of Denmark visited Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) accompanied by 33 Danish entrepreneurs.

The Queen and Mr. Choi Kil-seon, CEO and president of HHI, discussed ways to promote bilateral economic cooperation between Korean and Danish companies during a luncheon at HHI’s Guest House.

She toured the No. 3 dry dock, where six ships were being built simultaneously, and visited the Hyundai Maritime Research Institute to see a ship model test.

“I knew that Hyundai Heavy Industries is the world’s largest shipyard, but I could not   imagine its scale is as big as it is. Also, its lively workers are very impressive,” she said.

Denmark is HHI’s sixth biggest customer, placing 73 of the 1,561 ship orders which HHI has received from 50 countries since 1972. Denmark has so far placed a total of 6 billion dollars worth orders with HHI, making up a large portion of the marine engine, jack up rig, industrial robot, and construction equipment.
