Sunderland City Council has placed an order for five spreaders with HN Telstar, the division of HN Logistic Systems supplying winter maintenance products.

Dave Taylor of Sunderland City Council explained that the authority chose Telstar because of a combination of price, performance and after-sales service.

“We had a requirement for three dedicated gritters, a hook-loader and a demountable to meet our fleet profile. The demountable option allows the vehicle to be used throughout the year,” he added.

Over the last three years Sunderland has salted over the winter on 40 (2006-7), 62 and 48 days respectively.

The HN Telstar range includes dedicated and demountable spreaders that are virtually maintenance-free, and all products are capable of data logging.

A calibration and maintenance service is available at the customer’s own location on all Telstar models.

After sales service includes operator training, support engineers, spares’ stock, calibration inspections, and contract maintenance.
