“Toyota Cup” Forklift Operation Skill Contest was grandly held in Toyota Industrial Park in Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone, Jiangsu Province on June 14^th, 2008. 81 contestees from 28 companies arrived at the contest field in time to take part in the contest.

 

Hundreds of people attended this contest including Toyota Industry（Kunshan）Co., Ltd., Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone Federation of Trade Union, Toyota’s customers and suppliers in Suzhou area as well as relevant representatives from media. Vice-President of Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone Federation of Trade Union Sun Juan presided over the opening ceremony of final contest. Under the suggestion of Sun Juan, all the guests and contestees conducted silent tribute for Wenchuan Earthquake. Cheng Lai, the General Manager of Toyota Industry（Kunshan）Co., Ltd. addressed on the ceremony and wished the successful proceeding of the contest. Leaders from Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone Federation of Trade Union also gave their speeches subsequently. Then, all the contestees swore their oath and the referee from Toyota Industry announced the contest rules.

　

All the contestees were separated into to A and B groups to compete in two project as stacking contest and forklift operation contest, which examined exactly the operational safety, high efficient and humanity of Toyota forklift in an all-round way. All the contestees exerted their adept driving skills. After 4-hour fierce contest, the representative from NSK won this contest by his excellent forklift operation skill.

 

Forklifts used in this contest are Toyota 8 series 8FGN, which are latest ICE forklifts. The new models adopted rear wheel lock control system to reduce the tilt and swing when the forklift turns suddenly so as to upraise the stability of the forklift. The tilt control of mast greatly reduces the possibility of goods falling and forklift’s forward pitching. Fully-hydraulic steering synchronous device realized 100% positioned steering rate to minimize the turning radius in actual operation. The fork was featured auto leveling control, constructing a more safe function. Through investigating and analyzing the accidents in forklift plants, Toyota equipped their units with OPS system, a safety system which can induct whether the operator has correctly sit in the cab through the inductor under the chair. Meanwhile, Toyota fuses advanced engine control technology and unique SAS technology to monitor the status of vehicles through various sensors, reducing the possibility of accidents due to wrong operation. The humane design of Toyota 8 series makes the operation of the forklifts more convenient and comfortable. Furthermore, 8 series ICE forklifts also uses the latest eco-friendly technology to cleanse the emission and reduces the environment load with low noise.

During the contest, Cheng Lai, the General Manager of Toyota Industry（Kunshan）Co., Ltd. accepted the group interview of all the attendant media, making elaborate explanation to the development course of Toyota in China and the development direction of Toyota forklift in the future.

 

After the interview, Hu Haiya from Toyota Material Handling (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. led the media to visit the plants and offices of Toyota.

As the leading enterprise in the industry, Toyota jointed Kunshan Federation of Trade Union to hold the activity to improve the employee’s operational skill of advanced equipments, promote the technological progress of logistic equipments and enhance the safety sense to a new stage.
