The Fork Lift Truck Association Awards for Excellence, which usually focuses on recognising the great strides made in the industry, has found itself in the spotlight after being shortlisted at this year’s Awards Awards.

The event, which is about to enter its 25th year, has made it to the final six in the Best Awards Event by an Association category.

Launched in 1994, the FLTA Awards has gone from strength to strength, not just recognising technical breakthroughs and personal achievements, but also highlighting the remarkable efforts companies have gone to to improve their on-site safety.

In fact, many of the winners have gone on to share their stories and pass on what they’ve learned at the FLTA’s annual Safety Convention, which is no stranger to the ‘awards circuit’ – having picked up a Best Practice Award in 2015.

If that wasn’t enough, it turns out that the Awards isn’t even the only FLTA-organised event up for a prize at the moment — this year the FLTA’s Safetember safety month initiative is shortlisted at the Safety and Health Excellence Awards.

FLTA Chief Executive Peter Harvey said: “We’re so proud of what we manage to achieve with the awards every year — these last 25 years in fact — but we wouldn’t be able to put on an event of this scale without the help of our fantastic sponsors, so I must give thanks to Combilift, Investec, Doosan, Trelleborg, B&B Attachments, Yale, Mentor, Industrial Tyre Network, Toyota, and Ecobat, plus our media partner HSS, for letting us make these awards what they are.

“There are big plans for next year’s awards. We’ve learned a lot over this last quarter century and we’ll be putting all that knowledge to good use“
